*The venue has been changed from Jenks MS to Jenks HS

If you will be driving separately, please tell a band director before you leave school on Friday and don’t forget to take your instrument and the original copy of your solo or ensemble on Friday.

Winter Drum Line Members:

WGPO has changed the start time for the contest to a later time which allows us to do both events.  You will still need to take your uniform on the bus and be prepared to change on the bus, however, if things go smoothly, we will have limited time to change at Choctaw HS, but the schedule is still very tight.  You will need to bring a lunch or have one before solo & ensemble contest.  Dinner and snacks will be provided, though.

*Since all of our events are back-to-back starting at 1:00pm in each room, if we move the * events to beginning at 1:00pm, then the winter drumline players could leave at 1:15pm and make it to the Choctaw performance on time.  This would mean that non-drum line performers would move their times 5-10 minutes later.  Again, please await final details.

General Details:

It is appropriate to dress nicely for your performance (eg-dress clothes & no jeans) because the judge sees you and you make a first impression.  Be sure you have the original copy of your solo and/or ensemble music with the measures numbered for the judge.  Also, be sure your name and your school name are on them.  Hand them to the judge when you go into the room and introduce yourself.  Make yourself comfortable (stand or sit, adjust music stand, etc) and perform your best.  Afterward, say “thank you for listening” and leave the room.  He/she will keep your music and continue writing comments on the judge’s sheet.  Mr. Lyles or Mr. Brown can collect your music after a while and get it back to you at school or at the end of the contest.  If you’re using a CD accompaniment, take your CD out before leaving the room and hang onto it.

The warm-up area is in the Trojan Activity Center and all performances are in the Music Building.  No playing is allowed in the hallways and no food or drink are allowed in the music bldg.
